When I get my period it is very heavy with large blood clots and goes on for weeks. I have had an ultrasound, D&C,hysterscopy and all kinds of blood tests. From bleeding all the time my iron is low so I take 3 palafer a day for that. The tests all came back negative and the GYN says I just have an over active uterus. To try and stop the bleeding I have taken prevera. It did stop the bleeding for a copule weeks then it came back so she put me on Danazol 200mg. It never stopped the bleeding completely so she increased the dose to 400mg.
That stopped it for 5 days and then started all over again. She increased Danazol to 600mg and after 5 days on this dosage I stopped but after a blood test, which I was told should be done every 3 months to be sure the liver is ok from taking Danazol, the doctor calls me to say she got the results of my blood test and to stop the Danazol as something shows on the paper about my liver. My iron is still low also. I can’t win!
Now after being off Danazol for 3 days I have nothing right now but who knows where it will go next. I see the GYN in 2 weeks.

Dear Car-
Your gynecologist is treating the symptoms not your disease. You cannot continue this way….based on your email you may have a condition known as adenomyosis, which is uterine endometriosis.
Please read our website for information…this disease cannot be diagnosed with testing..a tissue biopsy must be taken for confirmation.
In order to stop the bleeding most doctors will perform a hysterectomy…we perform a laser assisted removal of the disease but save the uterus. You cannot have children after the surgery but the uterus is still there for hormone regulation and natural functioning during sexual relations. We are the only practice in the country offering this procedure. I am sure your gyn will not have heard of the procedure or technique.
I would recommend a second opinion….but find out what the cause of the bleeding is.
