Hello,

I just posted a few days ago and asked a question and thankfully you emailed me back. I am sorry to have to poset again but I find your site very informative. I met with the dr about my US results and she said that it is a complex cyst because it either has blood in it or it is 3 cysts together. I told her I do not understand how they cant distinguish between the two situations. Is this something that can happen- I am the one that had the baby 10 months ago. My dr said I most likely have not been ovulating properly. I have a repeat US 6 weeks from first. She says that it is something she sees quite frequently but I do not understand why it would be called a complex cyst. Thank you!!!!

Gina-
Thank you for your email.
Ultrasounds are very poor diagnostic tests that rely on sound waves penetrating through the abdomen to give a diagnosis. They are fine for the basics, but do not give specifics. MRI or CT will give better details.
Based on your description your cysts are not clear fluid filled, which can be easily diagnosed on U/S. Cysts can occur like yours and are not commonly malignant. Just follow with your gyn.
Good luck
