Dear Doctor,
I am 34 yrs old and have been diagnosed with fibroid tumors. My Dr. has scheduled me for another cryoscopy. I have had them in the past with no success at keeping the tumors at bay. Do I have any other alternatives?

Dear SH-
Cryo surgery is palliative and treats the symptoms only. Fibroid tumors are often deeply imbedded in the uterine muscle, and superficial treatments do not abate the symptoms for very long. The only way to prevent the tumors from growing and producing untoward complications is to have them surgically removed. This is why we advocate our FAS procedure-we can safely remove as many tumors as are palpable via laser, with virtually no blood loss. We do not recommend the “wait and see” philosophy.
