For over a decade the Institute has advocated treating fibroid tumors (also called fibroids), endometriosis, adenomyosis and ovarian cysts by removing only the fibroids or affected portion of the organ involved. We do not perform hysterectomy or oophorectomy (removal of ovaries) for fibroids or any of these conditions regardless of size, number or location of any fibroid tumors.

“A hysterectomy for benign fibroid tumors or ovarian cysts is an
archaic procedure from traditional medicine and lacks a sensitivity
to the needs of the female patient. It is likened to castration, in that it unnecessarily removes the female reproductive organs.”

– Tirso del Junco Jr., M.D.
