Fibroids

October 29, 2011 by alternativesurgery

Uterine fibroids are benign tumors that originate on the walls of the uterus. They are the most commonly occurring type of benign tumors in women and are more prevalent in middle aged women who are in their final reproductive years. Fibroids are hard to detect in their initial stages and may not display any prominent symptoms. However, in their advanced stages they do display symptoms like painful intercourse, heavy menstruation, and frequent and urgent urination. Fibroids should not be left untreated as they can cause many problematic symptoms and infertility, over time.

It then becomes essential to treat fibroids as soon as they are detected. For years, the most common method of fibroid removal was hysterectomy, an invasive surgical procedure. There are other surgical methods available these days however most do not adequately remove the tumors. The traditional myomectomy removes fibroids but often leaves the deeper, larger tumors behind, necessitating future surgery. Uterine artery embolization attempts to reduce or cut off the blood supply to the tumors but this too does not ensure the tumors will not grow back. Some women prefer hormonal manipulation over surgery, however, but that is only a temporary short term solution to the side effects, not the actual fibroid disease.

Female Alternative Surgery is the alternative surgical solution to fibroids. The tumors are removed without hysterectomy or blood transfusion, no matter how many, how large or their location. This is a much more holistic approach and allows women to remain hormonally and sexually healthy.

The clinic, The Institute for Female Alternative Medicine, was established by Dr. Tirso del Junco Jr. in order to make this alternative surgery more accessible to women suffering from fibroids. The practice’s uniqueness stems from three important factors : never having to perform a hysterectomy, all surgeries have been bloodless, and most are performed while patient are awake, under epidural anesthesia. This type of medical care is not offered any where in this country. Moreover, your surgery is video taped so viewing is available while in surgery and during your hospitalization post op. The surgery is completely safe and is done with the assistance of lasers. Recurrence rates are very low at 1-3 % compared to traditional surgeries where recurrence can be as high as 64%.

Apart from fibroids, alternativesurgery.com also offers all the information women need to make a well informed choice about how they can deal with other female benign diseases like ovarian cysts, adenomyosis and endometriosis.
