I have multiple fibroid tumors and was just diagnosed with ovarian cysts. What is the correlation and is there so much going on that I would need a hysterectomy? I am 38 years old, 3 children.

Dear Lisa-
We see many patients that have hormone imbalance in conjunction with fibroid tumors..this may result in ovarian cyst formation. Most gyns will recommend a total hysterectomy once the patient has had all her children and presents with this type of picture..we are opposed to hysterectomy. The uterus has other functions adjacent to childbearing…..sexual response, hormone regulation and production and preventing prolapse of bowel and bladder with its position in the pelvis. Once the uterus is removed many many women experience problems.
We would recommend you do your research before consenting to have a hysterectomy.
Good luck
