Hi – do you have any compatriots here in the UK?

Also, adenmyosis- will UK doctors refer to this as a condition? So far Ive been told I had an ovarian cyst. What differentiates the two?

Ps. My periods are monthly, and have always been. Ive always had small clots so I dont know what “normal” is (any pics available even if they are yucky?) I take 3 tylenol at the start of my period so I feel no pain, all pain is always gone by 2nd or 3rd day. I have no pain right now, just a sore belly button yuck. My stomache has a melon sized hard mass inside and it is growing larger. Im 34, never been on birth control pills, no pregancies or miscarriages, lots of facial hair etc since teen years (embarrasing). Also, there is a small polyp in my gallbladder.

ps. what percentage of the time does this huge mass turn out to be cancerous? How soon should I get it operated on (Im thinking asap!) Can the gallbladder polyp be removed at the same time? Thanks.

Thanks.
Cindy

Hi Cindy-
Adenomyosis is endometriosis of the uterus..and is a totally separate disease to ovarian cysts.
Adeno is a disease that enlarges the uterus and damages the muscle of the organ. Eventually it can cause infertility in advanced stages. It is usually accompanied by heavy bleeding and painful cycles.
IF you have a melon size pelvic mass..you need to diagnostically determine if its a fibroid tumor or an ovarian cyst of some type. Both are usually benign and the incidence of malignancy is rare.
We would not recommend ignoring your condition..whatever the mass is, it should be removed and sent for pathology. Gallbladder polyps are not uncommon and often are symptomless…we would not recommend the two surgeries simultaneously.
Good luck
