I’ve been diagnosted by ultrasound and mri to have bilateral dermoid tumors. Both are approx 5.6 x 4.6. The doctors want me to do a consent for laparoscopy, cystectomy and oophorectomy all at once. I’m really concerned with this all at once approach. I’m thirty w/no children. And I desire to have children. I’m very concerned about BOTH ovaries being removed. Can ovaries be reconstructed. |

I was just diagnosed with demoid cysts on both ovaries also. I have already had cysts removed twice before (within 8 years) by laparoscopy surgery. That recovery period was less than a week. Now my doctor wants to do open surgery (it sounds basically like a c-section, minus the baby) since both ovaries have these cysts & it will be a very tedious procedure. I’m 29 and they don’t want to remove my ovaries. I have a 2 1/2 year old daughter & don’t know how I’m gonna handle the four week recovery period, which means not being able to pick up my child. I would definitely question the removal of both ovaries though, especially since you would like to have children. By the way, I was told by 2 doctors that I probably wouldn’t be able to have children. Hang in there. Things could always be worse. |

I have been advised to have surgery for removal of my left ovary which has an 8cm dermoid cyst. The doctor wants to do surgery which involves a four to six inch incision so he has easy access for removal and he can check other ovary and uterus. Will do a D & C at the time. I did not agree with removal of the uterus just because I’m “no longer needing it for holding a baby”. I told him I didn’t believe in removing healthy organs and they had a reason for being there like holding your bladder in place. I was told I have three months to have the surgery and I’m looking at the 8th or 9th or March due to family obligations. |

June 30, 2005 – I was just diagnosed with a dermoid tumor via MRI. I have vacation planned for July 24th- can the surgery wait until I return the beginning of August or the earliest the dr. can perform the surgery would be July 13th. Thank you. |

i am 14 years old and i have been told that i may hav an ovary cyst. i went to the gynecologist today to get it checked and he is sending me to get a pelvic ultrasound. he said it may be a small one and if i do have it, they will get me on a medication to get rid of it. i just want to know if the medication will really be effective and what side effects it will have on me. i don’t know anything about the cyst but i’m scared that it can get worse. please give me any helpful information on having a small cyst at this age. |

I was recently diagnosed with a complex cyst on right ovary. Size 4.5 cm. Had two pelvic and vaginal ultrasounds and a CT scan. |
