Hi,
I am 48, have been having periods every 2 weeks for the past 3 months. I went to gyno last week. I am having a biopsy done on June 5th to rule out endometrial cancer. I also have a a fibriod the size of an orange and multiple other fibroids and a cyst on my ovary. My gyno says after the biopsy results we will take things from there. I am so confused as he filled my head with so much info, I am not gonna know what to do. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Diane

Dear Diane-
Most likely your bleeding is due to your fibroids..this is a classic clinical picture. When your biopsy comes back without malignancy…you should ask your doctor about removing your fibroids and preserving your uterus. Since you are closing in on menopause your hormones are going to begin to change…removing your uterus could immediately place you in menopause. Be very careful of the long term possible complications of hysterectomy.
Good luck
