Dear Gwen-
There is no way to know the answer without more specifics. Your doctor may have been referring to adhesions that can develop due to scarring or previous surgery. However adhesions and endometriosis cannot be detected via ultrasound. Adhesions can be very painful and could have your ovary attached to other pelvic organs. Schedule another visit with your doctor and ask more specific questions.

I had surgery in June to remove my fibroidial uterus. Was informed by Dr. that he had to remove my left ovary because it was “crushed”. Since the surgery I haven’t really experienced any thing harsh, but about two weeks ago I started to get very hot like inferno heat and I didn’t understand it. Dr. told me that the remaining over would keep me from going into early menopause – but is it possible because it seems as if the heat has been turned up a notch to include – night sweats, etc.

Help!

Dear pwhit-
Anytime you remove the uterus and an ovary..there is the possibility of early menopause or hormone imbalance. Your one ovary may not be able to produce enough estrogen to keep your body free of menopausal symptoms. I would have a hormone panel drawn to find out what your levels are.
Good Luck
