I have had such severe pain for 4 years now. 3 years ago I had lap. scope done and endo was burned off. Now 2 mo. ago I had a total hyster. but the pain is starting to return the first mo. I felt great after surgery(which I did have adenomysis). If surgery fixed the problem why would the pain be coming back? I have been tested for bowel, intenstine, and stomach problems but there was nothing. What else could cause all this pain? All the pain meds I take my body gets use to after 2 mo and has to get stronger or change.

Dear Barb-
Since your uterus has been removed, so has the adenomyosis. We have seen patients who had the smallest remnant of an ovary left in after surgery, and this ovary produced enough estrogen to aggravate the existing endometriosis in the pelvis. If your body is receiving or producing any estrogen at all, the endometriosis will continue to produce symptoms and spread. You should go back and discuss your situation with your doctor.
