In April 2000, Dr. del Junco Jr. performed a procedure called "Female Alternative Surgery" to remove my fibroid tumors. Since the surgery, the quality of my life has improved tremendously. Before the surgery, my uterus was about the size of a woman's 21 week pregnant stomach. I had the following symptoms: anemia, lack of energy, tiredness, discomfort, bloating, frequent urination, heavy bleeding and cramps. My ob-gyn recommended a hysterectomy and said that it would solve all my problems. I did research on hysterectomies and all of the alternative ways to deal with fibroid tumors and concluded that a hysterectomy was not the solution. Dr. del Junco Jr. offered the best solution and I contacted his office.
The main benefits were: I kept my uterus totally intact and did not need a blood transfusion because I had very little blood loss.
The staff at the FAS center was very nice and accommodating and answered all my questions. My surgery went well and I recovered quickly. In fact, I was walking around the hospital the day after surgery! My gynecologist was very impressed with the results, and six months after the surgery, during a pelvic exam, he said that everything felt and looked normal.
I am so glad that I chose the FAS procedure. I have so much energy now and all the symptoms have disappeared.
