So they prepped me and put me under general anesthesia and proceeded with the Laparoscopy.
A few hours later and having a very difficult time waking up, I noticed my husband sitting by my side. He looked happy to see me come out of it, however in my ever so groggy state, I can tell he was not happy. He tried to mask what he was feeling. But a wife can tell when something is bothering their husband.
Literally it took me almost a day and a half to feel somewhat normal and even then it was far from feeling normal.
I did not realize that it should have not taken so long for me to wake up after surgery, as well to feel out of it and dreadful during the recovery stage.
The worst part is I felt worse than I did before the first surgery.
Of course I was upset and disappointed beyond belief. What made it worse is the Fertility surgeon did not take out the disease. I was dumbfounded.
This story gets worse. When I was able to finally comprehend what the outcome of the surgery was, I was shocked. Basically they opened me up and decided that what I had was not suited for an out patient procedure because I had a fibroid on my cervix that was too difficult to remove unless I was hospitalized. However my operative reports do not coincide with what he had communicated. To sum it up, he really was not a communicator.
A couple of days after the procedure this Doctor said he had another game plan. He told us that I was unable to carry a child, however I still had good eggs and my hormones was at a healthy level. He proceeded try to talk us into surrogacy, but I would still need to remove my fibroid prior to retrieving the healthy eggs.
His big plan was to put me on Depot Lupron for about 3 months.
Depot Lupron is a drug (injected by needle every month and the cost is about $1000.00 per shot per month) that puts you into temporary menopause. He wanted me to stay on the birth control pills in addition to the Lupron. The birth control pills will balance out the menopausal side effects. I was thinking I am not going to be adding more fuel to the fire so to speak.
I went to my acupuncturist to help me relieve my nausea. When I mentioned to her about the Lupron injection the fertility doctor wanted me to take; she freaked out and encouraged me to really think about this. She mentioned that she has many clients that took lupron and was never able to get their cycles back.
