Pain with orgasm

I am 40 years old – about 3 years ago I was diagnosed with ovarian cysts. I have had 4 pelvic ultra sounds none have shown any fibroids. I am now 15 days late with my period – have never missed before, woke up 3 nights ago with stabbing pain on left side and I am still in pain from what I believe to be a ruptured cyst. Also for the past 3 years I have had increasing pain with orgasm to the point now where I don’t orgasm for fear of pain (always on the left side). Periods in past have always been very heavy with clots and very painful. Uterus has been described as boggy.
So my questions are: What is possibly causing me to miss a period? What is possibly causing my pain with orgasm? (I’m not pregnant)
(Just to explain the pain – when the uterus contracts with orgasm it sends waves of searing pain up left lower abdomen when orgasm is over so is pain).
Thank you so much for this web site! I will keep in touch.

Hi Cindy-
Sounds very much like Adenomyosis…please review our website section. This disease is often diagnosed based on symptoms only and can only be confirmed with with tissue biopsy.
Traditional therapy for Adenomyosis is hysterectomy. Our program offers an alternative with a laser treatment and uterine reconstruction.
Hormone imbalance can often be the culprit with late periods and ovarian cyst production.
